Start Here: Why Imago Dad?
We’re all stamped with the image of God, the Imago Dei, from birth. But along the way, we’re also stamped with another image, one from our father. That stamp can lead to both blessings and pains for generations.
What we receive from our fathers, we will likely pass on to our children. Our father partially stamped us with his image. We will do the same.
I think this explains the state of the world, especially in the West. Imago Dad asks how we can impact the next generation with our best values, instead of our default mistakes. We have centuries of good ideas to pull from.
We can’t help but imprint something on our children. But we can try to stamp them with our best.
The hope is that if we can each be better in our families, then we can lead the next generation into a better future.
Being a dad is an adventure few of us feel prepared for. Let’s sharpen each other to make it great.
